In today’s digital landscape, ensuring Trust and Safety (T&S) during elections presents a significant challenge. The proliferation of misinformation, hate speech, and disinformation, exacerbated by the role of AI-generated content, not only undermines the integrity of the democratic process but also diminishes public confidence in online platforms. While platforms are trying to address these issues, there is still much progress to be made.
In this viewpoint, we examine the various T&S challenges facing platforms and their impact on T&S operations. The report also explores the recent steps taken by platforms in response to these challenges. Additionally, it introduces our framework designed to assist platforms in effectively addressing these challenges, while also highlighting best practices.
