The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in application modernization initiatives. However, a majority of these initiatives fall short of their intended objectives, as containerized microservices, cloud adoption, and DevOps methodologies deliver their complete array of benefits only when implemented in a suitable environment.
In this study, we examine the vital role of softer aspects such as team structure, culture, and talent strategy in the success of modernization initiatives. A modern organization aiming for application transformation needs to have dedicated product teams, next-generation multiskilled talent, and an Assertive, Aware, and Associative (A3) culture. Expedited innovation, increased synergy, hyper-productivity, and enhanced end-user experience can only be achieved when modernization is backed by the right organizational DNA.
