Overview
On February 11, 2016, Wipro announced the acquisition of HealthPlan Services (HPS), an IT and Business-Process-as-a-Service (BPaaS) provider to U.S. payers and managed care organizations, for US$460 million. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, HPS employs over 2,000 associates, who will join the Wipro fold. HPS provides sales, benefits administration, retention, reform, and technology solutions. This is Wipro’s fourth acquisition in less than a year and is its largest acquisition since Infocrossing in 2007. This breaking viewpoint presents an analysis along the following lines:
