Software-led transformation is strongly impacting products, services, and operations of enterprises across various industries, primarily in two ways. First, it is bringing considerable changes to engineering processes. Not only are product life cycles changing, but software engineering principles and architectures are also undergoing a change with the emergence of new development practices such as DevOps and low code. Second, as companies adopt new technologies such as AI, AR/VR, and analytics, to bring operational efficiencies, meet customers’ expectations from technology, and reduce time-to-market, they are also realizing the challenges in getting the right talent.

Enterprises are, thus, increasingly exploring engagements with service providers and other ecosystem entities such as startups and competitors to plug their capability gaps.

To drive a software-led transformation, organizations need to apply concerted effort across multiple aspects, including evolving their engineering function, focusing on creating cloud-first platform-based products to offer greater utility and flexibility to customers, adopting modern software architecture, building a use case-based talent development strategy, and effectively partnering with service providers.
