Automating Content-Centric Processes with Artificial Intelligence (AI)

8 Dec 2017

Early adopters of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) have been quick to realize benefits; however, as the maturity of their adoption increases, they are beginning to recognize that they need Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology as well. AI, in different guises, such as Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), computer vision, or voice recognition can automate parts of processes that RPA cannot handle.

This viewpoint looks at how AI can be used to automate content-centric processes and how it can dovetail into Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to extend the scope and scale of automation within enterprises. It provides key definitions for different types of AI technologies, and use cases in the front- and back-office. It recommends an approach to getting started and highlights where additional investment in IT infrastructure may be needed to build capabilities for AI. It concludes with a case study that shows the potential cost savings that can be realized from an AI deployment.

This paper is intended for enterprise operations executives looking at increasing operational efficiency and for the best approach to getting started on AI.
